Sandra Crosby (Forehand)

I just found out about the passing of Bill Moore.  We dated from the 10th grade through graduation, but went our separate ways when we went to college.  I hate it when we lose a classmate especially one that meant so much to me!

Just found out Gayle Patrick died.  Funny, we want to use any word but death: "Died."  Some say, "Graduated to another life," or anything but "died."  But Gail did.  And so have many of our class mates.  What do you think of when you see the photos of past mambers of the class of 63'?  One day either you will gaze at my photo and say, "Yeah.  I remember him."  Or, I will be gazing at you, and I will remember.  All that really matters is that you say "Yes" to God's incredible love to give us Himself in the flesh of His Son:  Jesus.  Amazing, He died for everyman so salvation is complete except for one thing:  If you don't except His free gift of salvation–– eternal life–– then the gift was wasted.  And that breaks God's heart.  Breaks mine too.  Thank God Gayle said "YES" to Jesus and as Paul wrote, "Death has lost its sting, and the grave has lost its victory!"  Gail is now free withe a new body that will live forever.  No more pain.  No more sickness or sorrow.  And YES, no more tears!  I rejoice.  She was a rather quiet girl that in the 6th grade invited me to a party at her house.  I remember going to Stephenson's Music in Cameron Village and buying her a 45 rpm record by Pat Boone: "Love Letters in the Sand."  Cost a whole dollar.  That was right much when I only made six dollars a week delivering The Raliegh Times.  But I was thrilled.  I got invited.  Didn't get many invitations cause I was kinda a brat of sorts and quite sure I got on a lot of folks nerves.  But that was my terrible insecurity and fear that drove me to be a outlandish, arrogant singer in a rock and roll band.  Amazing what we'll do to hide our broken selves.  And I was what one might call successful: a part of the Swinging Medallions–– "Double Shot of My Baby's Love"–– until the group split and part of us became The Pieces of Eight with the hit, "Lonely Drifter."  Success unitl May 19th, of 1970, while reading the Bible that said,"Why do you work for that which will never satisfy... hear God, and your soul shall live."  On that day I came alive cause' I heard God say, "Why don't you come and play in my band."  I did.  Forty-six years ago with no regrets.  It saved my marriage, which we just celebrated 50 years, with four incredibly talented children, all who love Jesus  That's REAL success!  And I think I can see that we all have been invited to Gayle Patricks party!  I'm ready to go.  Hope you are too. Bless you precious Gayle for the life you lived!

Ken, as Steve said, Amen!!  I did not really know you or Gail or many others in high school, but it is wonderful to know good to know we will be in the hands of God one day and non of our life will really matter except whether we were winners of souls for Christ.  Congratulation on 50 years of marriage.  My Claude and I also just passes that Golden # as well.  See you in heaven my brother in Christ.

I did not know Gayle Patrick except for casual passing at NB. I have heard nothing, but great things about her and I am sure her life was gratification to God. As we all age and the years go by, the notification list of those passing continues to increase. My God bless our classmates and friends who go meet the Lord in Heaven. I would like to share a couple verses that are very meaningful to me and are a comfort when I have lost loved ones.

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” - Revelation 21:3-4

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one. -  John 10:28-30

AMEN!

It is hard to believe that our classmates are passing because each of us remember the others frozen in 1963!  Gail was such a sweet soft spoken and pretty girl and one of the nicest girls in our class. Ken's post was very poignant! Thank God for our wonderful class!  The greatest reward as we get older is that Jesus died for us and  we can rest in peace with him. Thank you God for the life of Gail and all our 1963 classmates. I treasure all of you as I go back in time. We were so lucky to share each other! God's blessings on all of you!

Gale dated Robert Dodds (class of 62) most of her senior yrar. Double dated with her many times, a really sweet girl. As usual, lost track of her after school but thought of her often as we reflect in our senior years. She is missed by those who knew her.

Gail Patricjk Martin was like a sister I did not have. She and I bonded immediately

when we met at Fred Olds and stayed that way through most of of our life.

My daughters Godmother. My family - Mama and brothers and daughter love

her with our hearts.

I agree with Mayview/ The Oaks at Whitaker Glen. There are others (Rex Nursing and Rehab, Springmoor, Glenaire, The Cypress) all excwellent, but vary in expense. Mayview still  the best, I think.

It's wonderful that we can help each other like this by sharing our thoughts, experiences, and information. Please let us know, Sandra, if we can be of an further help. Also, great to hear from you, Bill, Don, and David.

Although my mom was only there for two weeks before passing away, I was impressed with the care and compassion she received at Mayview. They were very supportive of my family during this time.

My grandmother stayed at Mayview (The Oaks) nursing home part until she passed away at age 99.  She had Alzheimer's and they took good care of her.  My mother lived there in a two-bedroom apartment and enjoyed visiting old friends who also lived there.  When we would visit, we would eat in their excellent restaurant.  A very nice place although I haven't been back there since my mother passed away in 2009.

So sorry to hear about Terry's sudden passing. I remember her fondly from our days at Broughton. Her father was one of my most memorable teachers at NC State. Like many of our other classmates, Terry will be missed. RIP
