David, I do wish you would consider coming back to FB, if for no other reason than to join our NBHS Class of '63 page.

Oh, you should see the video of Jerry and Jan White dancing!   That boy was out of control!   lol!   He was having a really good time!

You really should come back to FB. I have posted a bunch of pictures and videos there. I posted the one of Jerry and Jan last, because it was a hard act to follow. Those two really rocked! PRICELESS!!!! Come on back and join us.

Thanks for all the messages to Libby Howard Carico. She does not have a computer so I have been passing along her info. I will see that she reads these notes and any more that are sent. She could use them. To Make matters worse, her husband has been diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer just last week. Pray for them!  I am also copying the pictures for her. Best Wishes to all. Great seeing so many great folks. It was fun for sure. I am in Charlotte visiting and sang the oldies all the way up here.   Thank you Steve Bill and anyone else who took their time to make the Reunion so memorable.    Katie Moore

I enjoyed the CDS so much today, and they are a wonderful collection.  It was impossible not to dance!  Later this

afternoon my  back ached mildly.  I shared this with my younger funny sister, and she said, "My, they should've come

with a warning label -- 'May be hazardous to your health!'"  We laughed.  Thanks for all the work on these.  I have sev'l

oldies sets, but  nothing compares to these.

Happy listening, Janice Young Britson

I, too, want to say to Libby Howard, thank you so very much for your wonderful post.  I will keep you in my prayers also.  I too, lost my first husband, Ricky Jones, Class of 62.  I then married my husband, Lawrence Campbell several years lately.  God blessed me with a wonderful Christian husband and we are so happy together.  We have five wonderful grandchildren (my sons) and they mean the world to us both.  God  bless you, Libby, you are still as beautiful as you were in school.

It would be fun for me to see who were fortunate enough to have Murphey School's  Patricia Wooten for 6th grade.  She was a breath of fresh air -- so creative, fun, caring, and brought out the best in us!  We had leadership training by having a "Friday Club" meeting if we had performed well during the week, with games & activities.  We had a mock election and were able to have lots of group activities, and sat with our chairs in groups of 4 -- unlike many who still believed in sitting speechless in rows.  She carried us outside to draw and taught us perspective.  I was happy to learn she continues to walk 3 miles and does sit-ups daily!  She's just retired from being a longtime adult Sunday School teacher in Charlotte.  My memory of classmates is poor, for some reason.  I only remember one.  Hope to get some responses (photos in gallery).  Janice Young Britson

I'm wondering where the photos from Saturday night are...the ones the young lady was taking.   Anyone know?

Deb,

I am supposed to be receiving the CD from her tomorrow. When I receive it I will probably have to resize the photos and try to identify the people that are in the pictures, after which I'll be uploading them to the website. So they will be up pretty soon!

Hey there yall! This will be my first of two posts to see if I can bore yall to death and still be able to follow Ms. Penny's, "LAWS" the entire time. When Robert Liles announced about our gift bags with the CD"s in them, he said they were put together by Cary Barneycastle. I was so stunned to hear that name that I had to ask him if I had heard him correctly. I had.  I had also only heard that name but once in 62 years, back in the 70's. I heard he was working at Belk downtown and I went to see him. He was a sales associate at the time in menswear. He ended up working there for 35 years and retired as a Buyer. Here's the story on Car-Barn and me. hahaha. When i was ages 3-5, I was the mascot on my daddy's L.L. baseball team, Carolina Coach Company, or Carolina Trailways. Daddy's best friend, and coworker at Trailways, Jim Barbee was the assistant coach. I believe he was the one that told me Cary worked at Belk. Cary was one of the players on that team a couple of years. Coach Barbee's wife, Ruth, was a former 'Wilder' from a big beautiful farm down in Castalia, near Louisburg. One Saturday Daddy had the team bussed down to the Wilder's farm for a big ol' cookout and to swim in the cow pond. He took pictures of the team at the bus and swimming in the pond, after negotiating many 'chips' to wade in.  I've just sent the ever-hard- working 'Bambi/Teeba/Stevie' Stephenson a disc with the pics I took at the reunion and the pics of Cary, and, of course, out of pure, unadulterated vanity, the pics of me in my cute little Trailways uniform. The ones of Cary and me will be in, "Photo Galleries"...'Stuart Taylor Photos' probably in about a week or so. Sooooooo....for

ANYONE,

who EVER went to Broughton,

ESPECIALLY in 1963,

as a SENIOR,

who is interested in what Cary looked like as a kid,

and who is also interested in my EXTREME vanity,

CHECK OUT THE GALLERIES soon.

All the best to all of you, especially you, who have already posted here about how much you enjoyed the CD's.

AND....THANK YOU CARY, FOR ALL YOUR WORK. I SEE YOU!!!

I just broke a , "Penny Law', and I don't care because she is nowhere near me with a stick in her hand, although she did visit me in a dream last night and said, "When you make yor posts tomorrow, you had better be mighty careful, Mr. Taylor. I can STILL have an effect in your reality."

Hey Bambi. I see you up there above my previous post.

Yall bored yet? I'll see what I can do about that then! At breakfast Sunday morning I had an AHA experience that kinda changed my life and I will act on it at all the future reunions. It's amazing to me that folks you went to schoo ( North Carolina for 'school'), with, that may have been somewhat obscure to your circle of friends, can have such an influence on you. That morning I saw some people that, quite frankly, I didn't recognize by face. So, I walked over to their table, tried not to look obvious as I stared at their name tags and said, "Hi", to them. One was Shirley Whittington and we were soon joined by Diane Ramsey. I went to the room to get Norma, the best life partner anyone could ever have hoped for, back when I/you were 'hoping for'. We came back down and re-joined Diane and Shirley. We spent about 45 minutes together getting to know each other and i SUDDENLY found out how absolutely FUNNY they both were. What great personalities these gals have. That would have fit perfectly for me 50 years ago. Soooooooooooo...Diane and Shirley...where the HECK were you two back then (or maybe, where the heck was I?)? That 45 minutes made me wish really hard that i had paid more attention to others back when I seriously didn't. Now then...when I'm 72, yall can bet yer collective BUuUuTTOCKS that I will be making some seriously slow rounds getting to know some of the "obscure" folks that i may have missed. Actually, ten years ago something similar happened with Sam Simmons, but I guess this time my subconscious was paying more attention and told my conscious mind all about it. NOW I KNOW...AND HOPEFULLY, NOW YALL DO TOO!!!!!!!!

Thank you again Diane, Shirley, and Sam for making me a happier person!

New photos have been supplied by Stuart Taylor that have now been uploaded to the Reunion Pictures Galleries (Sat. Dinner Pix and Sat. Tour of Broughton Pix). He has also supplied some old photos from YEARS ago, several of which include Carey Barneycastle ('58), the guy who made our '60's Music CD's for us. The older photos can be found in the The Photo Galleries Link - Stuart Taylor Photos.

Thanks, Stuart, for sharing them with us all!

Dear Bambi:

What has happened to the automatic notifications? Did not get one for the 202 professional photos and the latest ones from Stewart. Inquiring minds want to know.

I am still limited to only 15 minutes, twice per day on my computer.

You had mentioned that videos did not  do well here, but I would like to send you a couple of test videos to see how they will do. I saw Robert Howard at the grocery store yesterday and he was asking about them. I told him that everything I had taken, pictures and videos, were on Face book. He does not do FB and I wonder how many other people do not do FB either. Let me know.

Pat

Re: Libby Howard Carico

Hi, Class of '63,

As we extend holiday gifts of kindness, I invite you to remember Libby Howard Carico with a prayer or a card.  Since our reunion celebration, her husband, Mike, has died of pancreatic cancer, newly diagnosed in August.

His obituary may be found at http://pughfuneralhome.com/obituary_view/2013-10-mr-michael-wayne-carico/10072860

Mike was a devoted husband and had been attentive to Libby's needs as she lived with advanced lupus. Their children have been managing her care during this tender time, as she also experienced a health crisis and transitioned into a nursing facility.  When Libby is discharged from rehab from a fall, she will be transferred to an assisted living apartment in Asheboro.  They, of course, appreciate our prayers and concerns.

Thank you for reaching out to her as you might choose.  As you remember, she is really grateful for her Broughton times and said all her memories with us are happy ones!

Libby's address is:

Libby H. Carico
Universal Healthcare

Room 114

7166 Jordan Road
Ramseur, NC 27316

Janice,

Thanks so much for being in touch with Libby's family and for keeping us informed. For such a sweet and delicate person, Libby has had some tough challenges. I'm glad she has her faith and the support of her sons and their families.

Janice:

I too wish to thank you in regards to our dear Libby. I watched the memorial video of her husband and was so sad for her. They made a lovely couple. Lovely pictures of the ever smiling lovely Libby.

I would like to ask that all of us take the time in this Christmas season to take out a few minutes to send her a Christmas card, along with prayers. As a widow of over seven years, I know too well how difficult holidays are. When one of our members passes away, there is nothing more that we can do except pray. I believe  that we all should reach out and do for the living now, because tomorrow may be too late. Those of us who have or have had troubles, sorrow, need, sickness or any other adversity would welcome a phone call, personal visit, card or a lunch date. You just never know what a random act of kindness might do for somebody. We are our class survivors and I am grateful to God to be one of them.

In the words of Tiny Tim, "God Bless Us, One and All."

Pat

Pancreatic Cancer is so bad. You don't know that you have it until it is too late. I had a friend that managed to live about two years with it and that is very rare. I don't think there is any cure for it, at least, I have never heard of anyone surviving it. I feel so sorry for Libby and her family! She will be in my prayers.

Do you have a mammogram every year?  I had a routine one on October 21, 2013.  They found a nodule they didn't like so they did a biopsy.  Then they told me I have breast cancer!

It was a shock!  The diagnosis is actually scarier than the disease.  I have Stage 1 breast cancer and the nodule is less than one-quarter inch.  I am taking a medication for osteoporosis that actually makes breast cancer grow more slowly which is probably why the nodule was so small.

They will do a lumpectomy on Friday, December 27th, while our daughter Amy is home from grad school.  Then I will have six weeks of radiation therapy.

Nothing happens by accident and I have been able to share my faith with doctors, nurses, and patients.  I don't see how anyone can get through this without faith in Jesus.

Breast cancer is a journey.  It has its good days and its bad days.  At least it comes in one-day packets.  We can get through anything one day (or one moment) at a time.

I am grateful for a caring medical team, a supportive Sunday School class (they even promised to cook for me!), and of course my wonderful family.  Gray has driven me to every doctor's appointment and Andrew even helps me cook.

I am so grateful I went for that mammogram.  I never would have known I had cancer or had them catch it so early.  God is watching over me.
